Crawley Borough Council’s Create Building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent, putting it in the top 10% of new commercial buildings in the UK.
The nine-storey, 78,000 sq ft building houses commercial offices as well as the council’s new town hall. It was designed by Cartwright Pickard and officially opened last March.
Varian Medical Systems UK was announced last month as the first tenant to sign a lease for building, taking half of the 14,000 sq ft sixth floor.
The Create Building was designed to minimise overheating in summer and excessive heat loss in winter, to keep running costs down and limit its impact on the environment.
