Creative workspace operator takes on Hackney WeWork site

Eat Work Art, a provider of workspaces for the creative industries, has taken space in Keltan House, 89-115 Mare Street, Hackney, E8, a block previously leased to struggling co-working company WeWork.

The 44,000 sq ft office building is located on the corner of Mare Street and Westgate Street in London Fields.

The site has been renamed Netil Corner. It was used by owner Hackney Council as office space before the council leased it to WeWork in 2016 on a 20-year lease, according to EG Radius data. The building has been vacant for the past two years.

Eat Work Art will now transform the site to provide workspace for 100 individuals in the creative industries. The premises will open in early 2024.

Netil Corner is set to include on-site cafés and a rooftop bar, among other offerings, available to both tenants and the community.

The site adjoins Netil House, 1-7 Westgate Street, E8, a 55,000 sq ft office building that is also leased by Eat Work Art. The creative workspace provider signed a lease in 2009.

Eat Work Art was advised by Kauffmans.
