Crest Nicholson to build first phase of Attwood Green

Crest Nicholson has been chosen as preferred developer by Birmingham council for the development of the first phase of the £100m Attwood Green urban regeneration scheme in central Birmingham.

Crest beat off stiff competition from Miller Group and Ician – a joint venture between Crosby Homes and AMEC Developments. Crest will redevelop 12ha (30 acres) of the 40ha (100 acre) first phase. The whole 100ha (247 acre) project will take over five years to complete and plans include demolishing and rebuilding the entire housing estate.

The winning proposals included 4,650 sq m (50,000 sq ft) of commercial space, 750 private residential homes and 250 social housing homes – owned and managed by Optima Community Association, which has benefited from £83m worth of government funding.

GVA Grimley advised Optima and Birmingham council.
