Criterion Capital has secured planning approval from the City of Edinburgh Council for the transformation of 109-112 Princes Street into a 652-bedroom hotel.
The approval marks the developer’s first hotel outside London.
The scheme includes the redevelopment of the former Debenhams department store, which sits within Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Omar Aziz, director at Criterion Capital, said: “Princes Street reflects our ongoing commitment to heritage preservation and sustainable urban transformation. We are excited to bring our first Zedwell Hotels project outside London to such an iconic location.”
