One of the men linked with the destruction of the Crooked House pub was jailed for his part in one of the UK’s biggest drug hauls.
Morgan McGrath, a director of the firm that hired the digger to demolish the fire-damaged pub, was jailed for 12 years in 2004 for his part in a £20m international drug smuggling operation.
McGrath is a director, along with the pub’s owner Adam Taylor, of AT Contracting & Plant Hire, which hired a digger to destroy the charred remains of Britain’s wonkiest pub, without permission, two days after it was damaged in a mystery fire.
Companies House documents show he and the Taylors, who bought the pub, have had a business relationship for at least seven years.
McGrath told The Times: “I don’t see what my past has to do with anything. Every sinner has a past, every saint has a future.”
