Crosby Homes has unveiled proposals for a £22m residential development aimed at kick-starting the regeneration of the run-down Brindley Loop and Sherbourne Wharf areas in central Birmingham.
The canal-side scheme (pictured) at 28-37 Sheepcote Street will comprise a seven-storey, 232-apartment building. Crosby is believed to have paid Bass Leisure Retail and two other private landowners nearly £7m for the site, which has been assembling for over 16 months.
Crosby’s managing director, David Walker, said: “This scheme is just off Broad Street where most of our focus and interests are. Prices for apartments range from £133,000 to £500,000. We’re doing a lot of work in Birmingham – there’s huge demand.”
On the opposite side of the canal from the Sheepcote Street scheme, at Browning Street, Crosby is also developing a similar project comprising 180 apartments. Local developer Midland & City Developments is building a 133-unit scheme adjacent to Crosby’s, with an end value of £25m.
Nearby, at 24-26 Sheepcote Street, Midland & City Developments is also developing its King Edwards Wharf residential scheme.
Knight Frank is advising Crosby.
