Crossrail 2 gets viability boost

Half of the £27.5bn cost of the Crossrail 2 scheme could be met with revenue from fares, business rates and a tax on new developments.

A report on the project’s viability has concluded that the proposed link between the southwest and northeast of London could meet a key requirement that at least half of the cost comes from sources other than central government.
