Crown Estate appoints new regional portfolio chief

Jim Yates FRICS has been appointed to the new role of Head of Regional Portfolio for The Crown Estate.

The regional urban portfolio, valued at £705m, includes business parks in Guildford and Cambridge, retail parks in Cheltenham, Altrincham and Leamington Spa and The Crown Gate shopping centre in Worcester.

Roger Bright, Chief Executive of The Crown Estate said: “The Crown Estate has embarked on an ambitious change programme, a major consequence of which is an enhanced in-house asset management role.

“Jim will take a central role in developing our approach to asset management with respect to our regional portfolio. In addition to his fund management skills, Jim brings with him experience of environmental issues and fund management disciplines, both important management aspects of the urban portfolio.”

Jim Yates was formerly Property Manager for the Michael Shanly Group, responsible for managing a mixed portfolio of commercial investment properties.

Previously he was Director, Property Funds at ISIS Property Asset Management and before that he held the position of Fund Manager Staff Pension Funds at Royal & Sun Alliance Property Investments.
