Crystal Place FC’s updated planning application for the £100m revamp of Selhurst Park has been approved by Croydon councillors.
The football club’s proposal involves increasing seating capacity by 8,225 seats to 34,000 in an extended main stand.
The plans also include adding 260,000 sq ft of floor space internally beneath the expanded main stand to be used for the operation of the football club, and an additional 6,000 sq ft of restaurant and retail space.
The plans, approved by Croydon Council last week, have been sent to Sadiq Khan’s office for approval.
Steve Parish, chairman of Crystal Palace FC, said: “We would have liked to have started the project sooner but our plans were delayed by financial constraints caused by the Covid pandemic. In the past couple of years our focus has been on bringing our exciting academy development to fruition but our attention will now turn to the stadium project.
“It has long been our ambition to extend and modernise Selhurst Park, making it a home fit for the 21st century.”
The extension was designed by KSS.
