Amazon is close to confirming Crystal City in northern Virginia as the location for its second headquarters, in the face of competition from 238 other cities.
States across America have been rolling out the red carpet for Amazon ever since the online retail giant announced it was looking to open another corporate HQ.
Amazon has said its new campus location, which it has dubbed “HQ2”, will bring up to 50,000 jobs and more than $5bn in investment over the next two decades.
However the Telegraph cites a Wall Street Journal report that says Amazon now plans to split the headquarters in two at frustration at the lack of a suitable single candidate.
