Cuckfield is cashing in on the trend for large London-based companies to move their back office functions to Kent to cut costs.
Cuckfield, which is backed by Dutch fund Sofam, is planning to build a Gensler-designed 32,515 sq m (350,000 sq ft) scheme in Maidstone after securing Kent council’s 4ha (10 acres) office site at Springfield near the River Medway.
The developer plans to build at least 6,503 sq m (70,000 sq ft) of space speculatively, confident that Kent will benefit from increased office demand because of staff shortages in the London and Thames Valley markets.
