Curious Drinks to create own brewery

Curious-DrinksKent-based winemaker Chapel Down has exchanged contracts on a 1.6-acre site in Ashford to build a brewery for its Curious Drinks beer and cider business.

The Curious Brewery will be developed by U+I and designed by architect Guy Hollaway, subject to planning permission.

Planning submissions have now been made for the brewery.

Chapel Down chief executive Frazer Thompson said: “Situated next to the international station and just 38 minutes from King’s Cross and less than two hours from the centre of Paris, the Curious Brewery will be a very exciting development for Ashford, for Kent and for contemporary British brewing.”

Chapel Down secured £1m in crowd-funding with the Homes and Communities Agency to part-fund the site and acquisition. The development also includes plans for 200 homes, a 120-bedroom hotel and an Aldi supermarket.
