Scarborough Borough Council has approved plans from the Harris Partnership for a six-screen multiplex cinema in the town’s North Bay area.
The 150,000 sq ft development comprises a multiplex cinema, alongside 53 apartments, five restaurants, four shops, a bar, gym and car parking.
It is located on the site of the former Atlantis Water Park, which has been unused for a number of years.
James Richmond, group director at the Harris Partnership, said: “It’s fantastic to see this development start to come to fruition after enduring a couple of setbacks.
“At the Harris Partnership we have a long tradition of creating schemes that benefit the local community and this multiplex cinema will provide much-needed leisure services for the town.”
