Cushman puts its Manchester office space on the market

Cushman & Wakefield has put its office space at the Zenith Building in Manchester back on to the market just 18 months after taking occupation of the space.

The firm is planning to move back to its former offices at the Pinnacle on King Street, blaming “deteriorating market conditions” and ongoing restructuring that has resulted in several redundancies.

Tony Bray, head of Cushman & Wakefield in Manchester, said the firm was currently occupying “more space than we are likely to need over the next five years”.

He added: “In the best interests of our own staff, and our clients, a positive decision has been taken to reduce our own occupational costs and to potentially relocate from the Zenith Building back to The Pinnacle.

“As a result we are marketing both suites for immediate subletting/assignment.

“We intend to stay fully operational in Manchester providing a full range of best in class services, and our long term plan is to expand our business over the next five to ten years.”

Cushman signed for 5,100 sq ft at Wrather Group’s Zenith in 2007 after outgrowing its previous offices at the Pinnacle.

The company currently employs 26 staff but recently relocated its valuation team to London, making Mike King redundant. He was subsequently hired by GVA Grimley.

It also no longer operates an investment function from Manchester, after director Richard Bousfield left the firm last year.

Last year, Cushman decided to vacate 8,500 sq ft of office space at the Aurora building in Glasgow and moved back to former offices at 223 West George Street.
