Cushman & Wakefield grows healthcare team with CBRE hire

Cushman & Wakefield has strengthened its UK healthcare team with two appointments.

Peter Farnes has joined the consultancy as a partner. The move is expected to bolster Cushman’s market presence across the sector.

In addition, Sophia Sham, a partner who has been at Cushman for seven years, has been promoted to lead the healthcare valuation and advisory team.

Farnes has spent 12 years at CBRE, most recently as senior director, working on single asset acquisitions and disposals across the healthcare spectrum from care homes to medical.

At C&W, Farnes will be a senior member in the transactional team, working closely with Tom Robinson, head of healthcare for both valuation and markets.

Robinson said: “The timing is excellent as we move away from the muted investment volumes of 2023 and focus on the fundamentally-strong operator trading performance at hand.

“Sure enough, we’ve started to see increased activity, with portfolios on the move, a more bullish stance from global specialist investors and private equity coming back. This backdrop is surely the fuel needed for traditional money and new players looking to enter the market.”

C&W’s specialist UK healthcare team provides valuation, advisory and transactional services for care homes, seniors housing, private hospitals, medical clinics and GP practices, specialist care, childcare settings, and other primary care entities.
