Custodian REIT has formed an environment, social and governance board committee, its chairman acknowledging “the risks imposed if we do not incorporate robust ESG practices into the way we do business”.
The committee will be chaired by non-executive director Hazel Adam, a former equities trader who worked at HSBC and Goldman Sachs, and will also include JLL UK chief executive Chris Ireland and former Tesco executive Elizabeth McMeikan.
The trio will oversee the company’s performance against its environmental policy and targets, as well as tracking the social outcomes of its work for stakeholders and communities.
Custodian chairman David Hunter said: “The board recognises that its decisions have an impact on the environment, people and communities and understands the risks imposed if we do not incorporate robust ESG practices into the way we do business. The board is also acutely aware of the increased stakeholder interest and compliance requirements around ESG management.”
