Internet shopping malls will not replace bricks and mortar stores but serve as complementary channels of distribution for traditional retailers, according to a report in the Financial Times.
But it points out that sales through e-commerce is cheaper and more flexible than though traditional shops.
It says that although British groups are slowly becoming more familiar with the internet, it is the US retailers that are poised to exploit the cyber market here.
