The 82 cyclists of the Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM peloton were very happy to finally be rolling out of Calais.
While snow remained on the ground in places, the roads were clear – but the weather was still not on their side. It was a day of downpours, headwinds and crosswinds. Multiple punctures experienced, many carbohydrates inhaled, and views of not much other than wind turbines and water towers.
This all made for a challenging day that brought the group together, with a final roll into Soissons in the dark and rain that had everyone glad to have ticked 261km off on their first day of cycling.
