Cycling teams on track at Brands Hatch

Allsop-Festival-of-Cycling-2015

Property pedalling enthusiasts took to the track at Brands Hatch on Boris bikes and Bromptons earlier this month as part of Allsop’s Festival of Cycling.

Numerous laps of the famously windy motor racing track in Kent separated the men from the boys on their road bikes, but it was a team relay on the Santander city bikes and Bromptons that proved a great leveller at the event, which was supporting LandAid.

Teams of four – or three for the competitors whose teammates were put off by the early morning downpour – were required to assemble their Brompton bikes in front of a crowd of competitors before completing a circuit. But for many the skill did not come naturally.

The riders representing major property firms – and EG, which supported the event – put in sterling performances over a number of races to rack up points on the leaderboard.

They also sent their hearts racing in a Wattbike challenge, positioned teasingly close to the massage tables, where physiotherapists massaged hard-working legs.

Mills & Reeve was crowned the winning team.

Allsop partner Duncan Moir also put in a top performance with live comentary.
