Geoff Reeve, director of Wadham & Isherwood in Farnham, Surrey, will mark his 65th birthday by joining hundreds of riders cycling from Brussels to Paris next month as part of the 2014 Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Ride, from June 1.
Reeve will have his wife Gill by his side along the gruelling five-day, 350-mile route, which includes World War I battlefield sites and cemeteries.
“It will be testing to ride five days on the trot and it will again be an emotional roller coaster,” said Reeve, who marked his 60th birthday on the same ride in 2009.
After returning from the UK the couple will then join thousands of cyclists for the Hero Ride to Horseguards Parade, London, on 8 June.
And then Reeve can finally enjoy a well-deserved slice of birthday cake.
The couple want to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes.
