Southern Cross will start transferring the first of its 752 homes to landlord control on 30 September.
A number of operators, including Four Seasons Health Care and the joint venture between NHP and Court Cavendish (HC-One), have confirmed a number of Southern Cross-run homes will be incorporated into their portfolios with effect from 30 September.
These will be the first homes to be moved from the beleaguered care home operator since it began its wind-down when landlords refused to drop their rents to keep it running.
In July, the landlords announced they would seek new operators for the properties.
A second wave of transfers is due to take place at the end of October.
Christopher Fisher, Southern Cross chairman, said: “The demise of Southern Cross is a matter of considerable regret. The final outcome now in prospect represents a considerable achievement, and I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to that end.”
The company expects all transfers to be complete by early November.
