Change Please plans to use the draw of a daily coffee to help provide the homeless with both jobs and housing.
Vans selling cups of premium coffee at £2.50 each will be rolled out in London next week in the initial phase of the project, which will be extended to other cities including Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester. The vans will be staffed by people who used to be homeless.
Change Please will underwrite tenancies for those people working on the project. The project is being backed by the founder of the Big Issue, Lord John Bird, and former commodity trader Cemal Ezel. An additional 3,000 coffee shops are planned for the UK by 2020.
