Dalgleish to run CBRE retail

Mapic 2012: Malcolm Dalgleish is to take over the day-to-day running of CBRE’s retail business following the promotion of Ciaran Bird to UK managing director.

Dalgleish, who sold his eponymous company to CBRE for £30m in 2005, has been chairman of EMEA retail at CBRE since joining the firm.

He will continue in that role.

Retail’s best-known agent said: “I am going to run retail during the interim period. The good thing is we don’t have to rush into making an appointment because both myself and Ciaran will be actively involved in the retail sector.”

CBRE is looking both internally and externally for an appropriate candidate to head the retail department.

Bird was promoted to managing director last week, following the departure of previously selected new managing director Matt Pullen.
