Danish furniture retailer Ilva has opened its first UK furniture store at the Lakeside shopping complex in Thurrock, Essex.
It is the first of three planned for Britain.
A Manchester store will open next month in the city’s Piccadilly Basing and another in November in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
The Gateshead shop will occupy the space previously taken by Marks & Spencer’s Lifestore.
Ilva is looking for a fourth site, around Reading, Berkshire.
It hopes to have 20 UK outlets within 10 years.
