Date set for 3.5m sq ft Radlett Interchange appeal

HelioSlough has been given a date for its High Court appeal against secretary of state for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles’ decision to refuse permission for a 3.5m sq ft railfreight depot in Slough.

The secretary of state has opposed plans for the Radlett Interchange, which includes five large warehouses, one of which would be as big as Heathrow’s Terminal 5.

A legal challenge lodged by developer HelioSlough is due to be heard on 28 June and is scheduled to last for three days.

Last July, Pickles overruled his planning inspector and refused planning permission for the scheme, on the site of the former Radlett Airfield.

It had been the subject of a second planning inquiry after the first was refused by former secretary of state Hazel Blears.
