David Ehrlich steps down as IRES chief executive

Irish Residential Properties REIT chief executive David Ehrlich has resigned to take on the role of chief executive of Canadian Apartment Properties REIT in Canada.

Ehrlich succeeds Thomas Schwartz, who passed away on 15 August.

Margaret Sweeney has taken over from Ehrlich.

CAPREIT is indirectly the largest shareholder of IRES, with a current shareholding of 15.7% and with its subsidiary IRES Fund Management, provides asset management to the RREIT.

Sweeney has served as an independent non-executive director and will continue to serve on the board as an executive director.

She has held senior positions including chief executive of Dublin Airport Authority, chief executive of Postbank Ireland and as a director at KPMG.

Sweeney said: “IRES has a very important role to play in the development of a professionally managed residential rental sector in Ireland.

“IRES is very focused in the short-term on the development of its assets in the greater Dublin area and this has the potential to significantly grow our portfolio.”
