De La Rue to shut Dunstable factory in £15m restructure

De La Rue announced a £15m restructure. The specialist paper and banknote printer’s Dunstable factory will close.

The security print operations will move to High Wycombe. Bank note production will transfer to Gateshead. Existing travellers cheques business will move to Thomas De La Rue in Washington DC and to the High Wycombe factory of Harrison & Sons. All British personal cheques will be manufactured at the Peterborough site.

The move should be completed within six months, saving £7m net annually.
