Rank Holidays & Hotels has bought the Littlecote Estate in Wiltshire from Peter de Savary. De Savary bought Littlecote in 1985 and converted it into a tourist attraction which recieved 6,000 visitors a day before the operation closed in 1994. The Estate has planning consent for the conversion and extension of Littlecote into a hotel with a golf course. Rank intends to develop and operate Littlecote within its Warner Holidays business but wishes to retain the parkland rather than develop it into a golf course.
The Evening Standard claimed Rank paid £40m for the site but a Rank spokesman, who refused to be drawn on the exact price, confirmed Littlecote’s asking price was £13m. Edward Symmons and Savills International acted for De Savary and Knight Frank represented Rank.
