DeTrafford’s 366-home Manchester scheme set for approval

DeTrafford’s £95m, 366-home Gallery Gardens scheme in Castlefield is set to be approved by Manchester City Council despite providing no affordable homes and a 2% contribution to off-site delivery.

Manchester City Council requires that developers must provide 20% affordable housing in new residential developments delivering more than 15 homes.

However, DeTrafford has proposed to commit £250,000 to the delivery of off-site affordable housing on a brownfield site.

DeTrafford has estimated it will make a £12m profit on the scheme.

Plans include two towers ranging from eight to 18 storeys and more than 2,300 sq ft of commercial space.

The scheme will be discussed by the council’s planning committee on 13 February.
