According to data obtained by Radius Data Exchange, the 19 stores to be closed span 1.3m sq ft, almost 10% of its overall portfolio size (which stands at 14.3m sq ft).

The stores will close in phases. The locations of the first phase of stores which will close on 11th January are:

• Altrincham

• Birmingham Fort

• Kirkcaldy

• Walton

• Wandsworth

• Wolverhampton

The location of the stores which will close on 15th January are:

• Chatham

• Great Yarmouth

• Slough

• Stockton

• Welwyn

• Witney

The location of the stores which will close on 19th January are:

• Ashford

• Canterbury

• Eastbourne

• Folkestone

• Southport

• Wimbledon

In May last year, Debenhams’ CVA plans to close 22 stores by 2020 were given the go-ahead by landlords and creditors.

It meant the struggling department store got the green light for those 22 stores to see rents slashed by 50% until Q1 this year.
