Up to 10 Debenhams stores could close in the next five years, and the retailer is also considering whether to withdraw from some international markets.
It also plans to start consulting on whether to close a central distribution centre and 10 regional warehouses. Two shops will become outlet stores.
The news came as Debenhams reported a 6.4% fall in pretax profit in the first half of the year, to £87.8m.
