Debenhams lights up Broadway

Department store chain Debenhams has agreed to extend its store at Westfield’s proposed Broadway development in Bradford, Yorkshire.

The retailer will add a third trading level to the store, taking it to 117,000 sq ft.

Duncan Bower, director of development at Westfield, said: “Debenham’s expansion, along with the recent Marks & Spencer and Next lettings, demonstrates the strong interest from retailers to invest in Bradford and capitalise on the trading opportunity this relatively untapped retail market represents.”

Rob Hadfield, property director at Debenhams, added: “The larger format store will provide our shoppers with a greater range of product, improved access from the car park and visual impact of the store.”

The £275m Broadway will extend to 550,000 sq ft and will feature more than 70 shops and restaurants.
