Debenhams plans to open another 11 department stores over the next four years.
The new outlets will be outside the 91-strong chain’s traditional territory. It will open in Carlisle, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Uxbridge and Oxford over the next year. It is also planning branches in Newcastle and East Kilbride.
It has decided not to bid for any of the 109 stores that C&A has put on the market.
