Debenhams is opening five stores this financial year.
They are in Milton Keynes, Sunderland, Carlisle, Uxbridge and Oxford, according to The Financial Times. The Daily Telegraph reports three new openings. The Guardian names Redditch and Inverness as outlets. Refurbishments are planned for Torquay, Staines and Crawley.
The company has 94 outlets in the UK and Ireland, which will rise to 103 by 2004. Belinda Earl, chief executive, said there were at least 130 new opportunities for Debenhams in the UK.
