Yorkshire logistics facility signs first tenant

Food and beverage supply and logistics chain Oakland International has agreed to take 161,860 sq ft of logistics and office space on a 15-year lease at Konect62, a multi-modal logistics and industrial scheme in Knottingley, Yorkshire.

The scheme, which is being delivered by joint venture partners Henderson Park and Cole Waterhouse, is located on the 136-acre site of the former Kellingley Colliery and comprises 375,000 sq ft of facilities with an additional 30-acre serviced plot.

David Nuttall, managing director of industrial and logistics at Cole Waterhouse, said: “With the first occupier now in place the momentum will only continue to grow as we bring forward future phases to deliver up to 1.9m sq ft.”

Following this deal, two more buildings comprising 151,000 sq ft and 61,000 sq ft remain vacant under the first phase of delivery of the scheme. A further 735,000 sq ft facility, known as ‘Big K’, is expected to be ready for occupation in 40 weeks.

The jv has also lodged proposals for phase two of the scheme, which would bring forward a further 802,000 sq ft of logistics and manufacturing space across multiple buildings ranging in size from 4,000 sq ft to 375,000 sq ft.

The wider masterplan is targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Christophe Kuhbier, head of investments for Europe at Henderson Park, said: “We are confident that the wider scheme will appeal to a range of occupiers for the same reasons, with the benefit of being able to offer flexible units of varying sizes.”

Savills, DTRE and Sixteen Real Estate are joint letting agents for Konect62. Oakland was represented by Clews and Co.
