Delayed return to Scotland’s offices is ‘bitter blow’

Scottish businesses have been dealt a “bitter blow” as the return to offices is delayed until next month.

Nicola Sturgeon announced yesterday that working from home would remain the default until at least 9 August.

Liz Cameron, the chief executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said: “This will also sound alarm bells for those town and city centre businesses, reliant on office worker footfall and custom, who now need to wait another month until those workers start to return.”

According to Accenture just 5% of financial services workers want to return to their desks full time, while 70% want to spend less than two days a week in the office.
