Deloitte struggles with Land of Leather sale

Deloitte, administrator to collapsed retailer Land of Leather today confirmed that it has not yet found a buyer for the business.

Lee Manning, partner and joint administrator at Deloitte, said: “We continue to talk to interested parties, and our goal remains to find a buyer for the business as a going concern.

“However, it is prudent to make contingency plans and we have notified all employees of the risk of redundancy and store closures should a buyer for the business not be found.”

Land of Leather went into administration on 12 January after its company directors failed to raise working capital facilities or sell the business following challenging trading conditions.

It had 109 stores across the UK and Ireland but closed 33 at the end of January. Eighty-two stores continue to trade.
