Deltamap

A PC version of Deltamap, a geographic information system, has just been launched by Delta Information Management Ltd. The system has been adapted from the UNIX environment to run under Xenix on microcomputers.

Deltamap, it is claimed, can manage many complex mapping tasks and is compatible with the original Deltamap system. As the company states: “This is a major feature for any organisation that envisages a system hardware upgrade in the future yet needs to retain complete continuity with existing project data.” The first user of the system in the UK is the University of Wales, College of Cardiff, which as a Regional Research Laboratory (RRL) has been appointed as a centre of expertise in data resource management methods. This RRL will develop and conduct applied research in database management, software development and spatial analysis.
