Demolition starts for Paddington Square

Sellar Property’s £825m Paddington Square, W2, project has begun with the demolition of Praed Street Post Office Counters.

The 430,000 sq ft Renzo Piano-designed office-led scheme (pictured) will also include a 13,650 sq ft rooftop restaurant.

The developer is also investing £65m into transport infrastructure surrounding the 1.35 acre site.

Demolition is due to complete by the end of the year with construction work due to start in the first quarter.

Knight Frank and JLL are the letting agents.

James Sellar, chief executive of Sellar, said: “We are making progress with the pre-construction phase of Paddington Square, this transformational redevelopment of the area adjacent to the station that will create a vibrant destination bringing a retail and leisure experience along with commercial life.

“When completed by the end of 2021 Paddington Square will improve connectivity with a new Bakerloo Line station and the creation of a public square. With the arrival of the new Elizabeth Line, Paddington will become one of the capital’s major transport hubs with direct fast links to Heathrow, the West End, the City and Canary Wharf.”
