Derby city council is offering new social workers a golden door-key deal under which they will get £10,000 towards their mortgages.
The deal, the first of its kind in the UK, could cost taxpayers £200,000 but will save money in the long run, the council said.
The scheme is aimed at reducing the council’s reliance on expensive temporary workers.
