Derby Council plans to attract occupiers to the 72.84ha (180 acres) Pride Park. The Department of Environment has spent £37.5m on decontaminating the site but no more funding will be spent inducing companies to make the move.
So far two local business have decided so far to move in. DIPT, an industrial tool hire company, will move into a 0.8ha (two acre) plot in January. Derby County, the Premier League football club, is building an £18m stadium on the site which should be ready for next season.
The public sector consortium, Derby Pride, which is marketing the site has ruled out superstore operators because it wants to create jobs in manufacturing, distribution and entertainment.
