Developer sought for £30m Attwood Green scheme

Birmingham council and Optima Community Association have launched their search for a developer for the second phase of the £30m Attwood Green housing regeneration project.

The scheme is planned for an 8.3-acre (3.4ha) site between Edgbaston and Lee Bank Middleway, south-west of Birmingham city centre.

The council and Optima are to demolish existing buildings on the site, currently known as the Woodview estate.

They are inviting bids for the right to develop a mix of around 300 houses and flats, including social and affordable housing and private freeholds. The deadline for bids is 8 September.

A pedestrian bridge will link phase two to the 61-acre (25ha) phase one, known as Park Central and being developed by Crest Nicholson.

Work on phase two is expected to start in 2004.

GVA Grimley is advising the council and Optima.
