The proposed £1.5bn regeneration of Elephant & Castle, SE1, has been further delayed by a rival snatching an important part of the site.
Southwark Land Regeneration – the consortium fronted by Godfrey Bradman’s European Land and Frogmore Estates – and Southwark council this week failed to block consent for rival developer Pinnacle’s Castle House residential scheme.
The council attempted to refuse Pinnacle’s proposals, saying that it went against Southwark’s plans for Elephant & Castle. But it failed to block the development because SLRs masterplan has not been submitted yet.
SLRs Nicholas Taylor said: “Other sites that we would want to take over as part of a CPO for the scheme could be brought to planning by other developers. The delays to the scheme would be increased.”
