Midland & City Developments and Crosby Homes have joined forces to develop a £26.5m residential scheme along a section of Birimingham’s canal system known as the Brindley Loop.
The developers are now awaiting outline consent for about 250 new homes on two adjoining sites. Crosby’s John Brown said: “This isn’t a joint venture. But the planning application is for the one site which is split between us on a 50/50 basis.”
As part of the development, a new road from Sheepcote Street will open up the previously neglected area and lead to a new pedestrian bridge across the canal.
Subject to consent, the joint scheme could start on site in March 2001.
