Edinburgh’s Unesco World Heritage Site status, granted in 1995, could be at risk following decisions to give the go-ahead for a number of modern developments.
Inspectors from the International Council on Monuments and Sites have visited various sites following complaints from the public and others, and UK committee inspectors are planning a trip to the city to assess the potential impact of the developments.
An £850m development planned for the city will include a hotel and a theatre, over 430,000 sq ft of retail space, as well as office and residential areas.
