CBRE to make cities safer for women
CBRE has boosted its commitment to Plan International by supporting the charity’s Safer Cities programme in Nairobi, Kenya.
Safer Cities, which operates in Cairo, Kampala, Hanoi, Lima and Delhi, aims to make cities safer places for females.
CBRE has set out a two-year strategy to assist Plan International by contributing $650,000 (£535,000) to its projects, helping the lives of more than 4,000 young people.

Westminster seeks prime buildings
The city of Westminster, home to some of London’s most famous landmarks, has launched the first People’s Choice Award to honour the best building in the city of the last decade.
Westminster City Council’s panel of experts examined each entry’s use of materials, its purpose and its impact on the space around it.
The shortlist of 12 buildings comprises houses, offices, shops, and education and gallery space that serve all parts of the community.

Royal welcome for Ronald McDonald House
It was a royal opening for Ronald McDonald House at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
The Duchess of Cambridge officially opened the 59-bedroom accommodation facility, built for families whose children are being treated at Evelina London Children’s Hospital at St Thomas’ Hospital.
The £13m facility is regarded as a model of best practice by the Ronald McDonald House charity. A total of 14 Ronald McDonald Houses have been built across the UK, providing accommodation for the families of sick children.
This latest facility was developed in partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, which contributed to the cost of the construction, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, which provided the land for the project.
Cyclists to compete at Wembley Park
Quintain’s 5,000-home residential scheme Wembley Park, in north-west London, will be a venue for this year’s Tour Series 2017, Britain’s leading cycle event, on 16 May. At the 2 March launch event were professional racers as well as Tour Series race director Mick Bennett, chief executive of Quintain Angus Dodd, and Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council.
