Dispute over pet crematorium moves to Court of Appeal

A dispute over the air pollution caused by a Northamptonshire pet crematorium has moved to the Court of Appeal.

Family-run Thornby Farms, claims that its local environment is being blighted by emissions from the pet crematorium, following Daventry District Council’s 1998 decision to authorise Timeright Ltd to increase the total capacity of its animal incineration facility at Guilsborough, Northamptonshire, to 650kg per hour.

Thornby is challenging an earlier High Court ruling, contending that the council failed to consider other, more environmentally friendly techniques of disposing of 40-50 tonnes of animal remains each week.
