Boughey Distribution has signed a 15-year lease at Lymedale Business Park in Staffordshire.
The newly built ambient warehouse and office space, spanning 332,000 sq ft, will expand the company’s storage capacity to 187,000 pallets from 52,000 pallets.
Initial capital expenditure is expected to be around £8.5m. It is estimated that 250 local jobs will be created to service the new warehouse.
The move comes as Boughey, backed by parent company NWF Group, is set to grow its existing customer base and acquire new businesses.
The warehouse, in between the firm’s two existing sites in Wardle and Crewe, is expected to be fully operational by autumn.
Angela Carus, managing director at Boughey, said: “Our industry is constantly evolving and requires quick reactions and total flexibility for customers. The biggest challenge during 2023 was managing unpredictable retail demands because of the current cost-of-living crisis and poor summer weather which both affected sales for our customers. This instability had a knock-on effect on customer stockholdings which created pressure on warehouse space.
“We are very pleased to have secured this additional space.”
