Dixons takes axe to 35 airport stores

Dixons Carphone will close 35 of its airport stores, saying it did not expect passenger numbers to recover.

The electronics retailer said the government’s decision to scrap airside tax-free shopping had made the stores unviable.

However it has been able to repay £73m of government furlough support after doubling online sales during the pandemic to £4.5bn.
