The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has appointed Drivers Jonas Deloitte to project manage a cluster of temporary venues for the London 2012 Games.
These include: Greenwich Park – Equestrian events and Modern Pentathlon; Horse Guards Parade – Beach Volleyball; The Mall – start/finish for the Marathon; Hyde Park – Triathlon and Marathon Swimming.
The project team is headed by Stephen Jepson, director in the sport team at Drivers Jonas Deloitte.
Jepson said: “It’s an absolute honour to be working with LOCOG on London’s Games. These venues have a significant historic prominence in London and it’s our job to create first class sporting facilities to showcase to the world. These venues are a huge logistical operation with no room for error. Take the Beach Volleyball for example; we’ll be creating a temporary arena in the heart of Whitehall for 15,000 spectators, including sand brought in to create London’s very own beach, and it will be constructed inside six weeks following Trooping the Colour.”
